ProNest(R) 2010 Nesting Software Adds Integration with FabTrol MRP Estimating and Production Control Software for Steel Fabricators

With its recent release of ProNest 2010 (Version 9.0.6) nesting and process optimization software, MTC Software, a Hypertherm brand, released functionality that provides steel fabricators with the ability to:
- Exchange data between ProNest 2010 and FabTrol MRP’s Plate Manager
- Import a FabTrol-generated list of parts and plates into ProNest, nest with those parts and plates, and then export a file containing nest and job information back into FabTrol MRP
ProNest 2010 now includes integration providing electronic communication from FabTrol MRP for external plate nesting. During import, all parts and plates in the Inquiry file are automatically processed by ProNest 2010 and then added to the part or plate list, ready for nesting. With this added capability, fabricators who use ProNest 2010 can now:
- Import an Inquiry file containing a list of parts and stock plates for nesting in ProNest 2010.
- Export a FabTrol MRP Solution file from ProNest
In FabTrol, the user creates an XML Inquiry file containing a list of parts and stock plates. The plate nesting Inquiry file replaces manual data entry of FabTrol MRP information into ProNest 2010. In addition, the export provides automatic part tracking and elimination of errors resulting from incorrect manual data entry. The inquiry is then used by ProNest, where the parts are nested on stock plates. After all nesting is complete, the user may export a FabTrol Solution file from ProNest. The information from this file is then imported into FabTrol.
The recently added integration builds on ProNest 2010’s existing software integration capability, including 3D CAD and MRP/ERP. FabTrol users familiar with ProNest’s nesting and process optimization software will appreciate how ProNest’s ease of use and embedded process techniques have been applied to this new module, simplifying the job creation process while increasing speed and reducing errors.
